Artist/Gallery notes
Mount Barker is near the coast in the South of Western Australia. It is famous for its magnificent wines. We stayed at the hotel in the right of this painting. At the crack of dawn I went out to paint the main street. It was cold and showery so for much of the time I worked in cramped conditions in the back of our Hilux Ute. The painting reminds me of some of Lloyd Rees and Russell Drysdale's paintings of Australian towns.
