Artist/Gallery notes
This is a favourite spot of mine close to where I live outside Mount Helena, in the Darling Ranges near Perth in Western Australia. A rough track winds up the hill with forest on one side and fields on the other. Over the crest it tumbles down a steep rocky slope into a small but beautiful valley. A clear stream runs down the valley and crosses the track in a boggy area. This was painted near this point looking up the valley. I was fascinated by the dark shadows of the trees on the right in the early morning sun.
